Good Enough

GOOD ENOUGH

Strange reflections in my bathroom mirror
I see a man that I used to know
I meet the eyes of a stranger I met somewhere
Sometime ago
I finish my second cup of coffee
But still there's no sign of the day
So I walk downtown to the boardwalk cafe
And the sunshine explodes and chases the night away

Sometimes this life sure is killing me
But I ain't got the time to let it pass me by

Is it good enough
Is it what you thought it would be?
It's everything you want
Still there's more than you need
Is it bad enough, have you had enough
Well it's good enough for me

Blood red lipstick on my bedroom mirror
Tells me to go to hell
Another story's blowing down the boulevard
Now there's nothing left to tell
There's nothing in your pocket
There's something up your sleeve
You look right up the alley coming down my street
The sun goes off at midnight
And the whistle blows at dawn
I'll give you everything I've got to carry on

Sometimes this life sure is killing me
But I ain't got the time to let it pass me by

Is it good enough
Is it what you thought it would be?
(...)

The street lights crawl
Into the barebulp hotel
Guess this smokefilled room
Got some stories to tell
Can't get no sleep on this bed of stone
When the devil calls you'd better off alone
