The gospel was promised by sages and prophets The Scriptures spoke of a Son Descendant of David, and yet uncreated Clothed in our flesh He would come Predestined to seek us He took on our weakness And died our death on the cross But just as was spoken The grave could not hold Him The glorious Son of God His name is Jesus His name is Jesus His name is Jesus Christ, our Lord We’re loved and forgiven, compelled by a vision To see His mercy proclaimed Announcing salvation to every nation All for the sake of His name We’re no longer strangers For Jesus, our Savior Has come to make us His own We’re called to be holy And now we live only To make His glory known
