The Painter

Paul Anka

The painter paints away the day
as he paints his life away
will he rise in judgement's eyes or fall ?
what a humble life he lives / he never sees the price they give / another part of his soul upon the wall / * like a lonely soldier faces / foreign shores and empty spaces / such as he who strkes to free his soul / isolation steeped in sadness / mellowed by the fears of madness / there he stands as he commands control / deeper than the eye can see / another man's philosophy
while he lives, the price they give is small
when he dies and on that day
the sky's as high a price they'll pay
while he lives, the price they give is small
while he lives, the price they give is small.
