What Makes Us Beautiful

John Michael Howel

When I was only 16 the age of insecurity
I remember my mom said: Son, it's okay to be unique
I'll admit I'm kind of strange
I don't enjoy a lot of things like Michael Scott
Or Rachel Green, but that's okay 'cuz that's just me

After all, it's boring tryna to fit into the crowd
When they're all trying to fit the norm
I'd rather be extraordinary cuz the ordinary, ain't no fun at all
No point of being someone else when you're the only you

Don't ever change
Yourself to fit somebody else's mold
We're not the same
And that's what makes us all
That makes us all so beautiful

I remember my dad said to me: Son, haters don't ever leave
But when you don't care what they think, is when you will be really free
So I don't mind what people say
Because I don't want to lose my way
Chasing what God didn't pave, digging someone else's grave

After all, it's boring tryna to fit into the crowd
When they're all trying to fit the norm
I'd rather be extraordinary cuz the ordinary, ain't no fun at all
No point of being someone else when you're the only you

Don't ever change
Yourself to fit somebody else's mold
We're not the same
And that's what makes us all
That makes us all so beautiful

Love who you are
We're all God's child
But they don't determine who we are
That's what makes us all
That makes us all so beautiful

Don't ever change (hey!)
Yourself to fit somebody else's mold
We're not the same
And that's what makes us all
That makes us all so beautiful
