Glossy Photograph

Your eyes pull me in
I'm drawn to your face
This picture is set in a beautiful place
near church bells surrounded by cobblestone streets
We're forcing a smile in the summer...

And my dress is wrinkled which you point out to me
and why you wore that shirt is a mystery
but we still look the part what a glamorous two
We have it all or we look like we do

Do we take a quick picture then be on our way
Or unpack our longings determined to stay
Do we fight back our fears with a tear or a laugh
what will become of this glossy photograph

I'm trying to decide which thorns I can bear
because all lovers have them
it's just a matter of where
and they cut you so close right there by the bloom
I'm praying this flower will open up soon

Do we take a quick picture then be on our way
Or unpack our longings determined to stay
Do we fight back our fears with a tear or a laugh
what will become of this glossy photograph

It's edges are dotted with a few stains of tea
but when has perfection set anyone free
There've been wins there've been losses
but who's keeping score
I'll love you forever and then I'll love you even more

More than a quick picture then off on our way
I've unpacked my heart and I'm determined to stay
whether facing my fears with a tear or a laugh
I treasure and frame this photograph
Oh it's more than some picture then off on our way
I've unpacked my heart and I'm determined to stay
whether facing my fears with a tear or a laugh
I treasure and frame this glossy photograph.
