You Say Goodnight, I'll Say Goodbye

James Intveld

So tonight I'm here to tell you
This time I'm really leavin' you forever
We've been holdin' on so long
Knowing that for us it won't get better
And now I'm thinkin' what to do or what to say
And hope you'll change my mind
But maybe we should face the truth
Of something we can no longer hide

With all our good intentions
Love just couldn't stand the test of time
Still livin' off sweet memories of two young hearts
Yhat Never ages like wine
And now you're lookin' awful scare
'Cause knowin' that it's over seems all wrong
And as I wipe your tears away
I pray that mine won't start until I'm gone

If you'll say goodnight then I'll say goodbye
And if it's alright I'll hold you close just one last time
My heart is breaking here in two
Although I know what we must do
So you say goodnight, I'll say goodbye
And then we must part

And as we stand in silence
I can't help but to think about good times
All the things we shared together
How we laughed but mostly how we cried
There's so much I want to say to you
But I think that I best be on my way
And if you ever think of me
I hope it won't be thoughts of our last day

If you'll say goodnight then I'll say goodbye
And if it's alright I'll hold you close just one last time
My heart is breaking here in two
Although I know what we must do
So you say goodnight, I'll say goodbye
And then we must part
