As I Am

Jacob Miller

Take me as I am
For I fear that I won’t change
First steps then run run run
Places start to look the same

Now I could lie awake at night
Toss and turn about the not so good
The "what I probably should’ve done"'s

I’ve always thought of myself as a lover not a fighter
I’m not trying to knock you out, to throw no punch
If you can believe I tried my best not to hurt anyone

Take me as I am
For this is real and that's ok
Hand out your reprimands
I’ll tell ‘em first I caused you pain

Now I could change
If I wanted to
My disposition could improve

And I am as I am
Trying but terrible
An honest effort in my hands
I extend a trying load

Now I could lie awake at night
Toss and turn about the not so good
The "what I probably should’ve done"'s

I’ve always thought of myself as a lover not a fighter
I’m not trying to knock you out, but to overcome
If you can believe I tried my best not to hurt anyone
