If All Else Fails

The Discerned

If All Else Fails

I've met people in this world,
I don't think I was supposed to meet.
And though their memories remain,
the image left is incomplete.

Why should I know?
Why would you listen now to me?
And you say it's meant to be and that you know
about your want, about you need, but I don't want to see you bleed.

I am, I fought.
This blame, this praise I've got.
Am I the hero of the day?
And I've known,
and I feel when it's real.
God knows that I've tried.

I've met people in this world,
who ruined lives, who ruined friends.
And though they say they act with love.
Their actions I can't comprehend.

I should have known,
when the light came to me,
like in a haunting dream shot through my head.
Like a cold and hollow shell, the silence burned like hell.

I've met people in this world,
Who seldom came, who seldom went.
And though the light it entered whole,
It exited shattered and bent.

I should have known,
when the light came to me,
like in a haunting dream shot through my head.
Like a cold and hollow shell, the silence burned like hell.

I am, I fought.
This blame, this praise I've got.
Am I the hero of the day?
And I've known,
and I feel when it's real.
God knows that I've tried.
