Undesirable Regrets

Holger

How many lives have you lived so far?
Dreams in our sleeps under a twilight sky
On a croweded square filled with relentless pride
Significant words can tell significant lies

Walking the streets on an empty Sunday
Crowding the bars on a Friday night
The human kind can be so unkind
But it is the best we know

Torn apart love and all those country doves
They may pleasure you for a while
But a broken heart is like that thing on the Bible
When old Abraham had to take his son
To the mountain of sorrow and ubiquitous fright

Walking the streets on an empty Sunday
Crowding the bars on a Friday night
The human kind can be so unkind
But it is the best we know

But what could be
And what could not
Are so entwined
Tied in a knot
And I keep trying to forget
All my undesirable regrets
