Tom: A NOTE: the chords are played with a free funk style rhythm. you really have to listen to the record to get the feel. The chords in the verse section are intended to compensate for lack of a bass player when playing acoustically. you need to carry the rhythm in the verse section with your picking style. also, the chorus chords should NOT be played as barr chords. instead, cover the top two strings (B + e) with your first finger and hit the low E string with your thumb. (this gives the chord a different "feel" that emphasizes the individual notes and allows a quick transition to the other chords). Also, on the A2/F# chord, hit the low F# note with the thumb (E string). See that the bass note is "doubled" with the octave on the "D" string? Be sure to try this trick acoustically when playing songs with a strong bass part (like Flag Pole Sitta' by Harvey Danger, or Unanswered Prayers by Garth Brooks). --kidguitar s = slide p = pull off h = hammer on v = down pick ^ = up pick = double digit fret number (i.e. 10) RIFF1: (play while droning the open "A" string--not tabbed) v sv ^ v h ^ v ^ v sv ^ v h ^ v ^ e|------------------------------------------------------------------| B|----(7)--9-10--10--8--7--------(7)-7-8-8--3-2---------------------| G|-----7---9-----9---7--7---------7--7---7--2-2---------------------| D|-----7---9-11--11--9--7---------7--7-9-9--4-2---------------------| A|0--9---------------------0----9----------------0-0----------------| E|------------------------------------------------------------------| RIFF 2: e|------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---5-(0)-4-(0)-3-(0)-2--------------------------------------------| G|------------------------------------------------------------------| D|------------------------------------------------------------------| A|------------------------------------------------------------------| E|------------------------------------------------------------------| RIFF 3: e|------------------------------------------------------------------| B|------------------------------------------------------------------| G|------------------------------------------------------------------| D|------------------------------------------------------------------| A|------------------------------------------------------------------| E|---5-3-5----3-4-5-4-5---------------------------------------------| CHORD CHART D6/A A A2/F# F# G D A5 e|--5-----x---(0)----2---3---2--5-----------------------------------| B|--3-----2----0-----2---3---3--5-----------------------------------| G|--4-----2----4-----3---4---2--2-----------------------------------| D|--0-----2----4-----4---5---0--2-----------------------------------| A|--0-----0----0-----4---5--(0)-0-----------------------------------| E|-------------2-----2---3------------------------------------------| RIFF1 VERSE 1 D6/A A A2/F# A The mountain is high, the valley is low A24 A A2/F# A And you're confused, on which to go D6/A A A2/F# A So I come here, to give you a hand D6/A A A2/F# A And lead you into, the promised land...so CHORUS (hit each chord 2 times, except for D chord) F# G A A5 Come on and take a free ride (free ride) F# G D Come on continue by my side F# G D RIFF2 Come on and take a free ride RIFF 1 VERSE 2 All over the country, I'm seein' it the same Nobody's winning, at this type of game We gotta do better, it's time to begin You know all the answers, must come from within..so CHORUS SOLO Stop bridge (RIFF 3) RIFF 1 CHORUS Come on and take a free ride yea, yea, yea, yea......
