Going Home

Cargill Bobby G

On a road, not far away, in a little country town,
There's an old gray-haired lady, who's felt life's up-and-downs.
She's given up on life. it's lonely without him here.
No one takes time to see her, and to her it's really clear.

She's going home to be with her true love.
I know the work on the farm was hard, a lot of sweat and tears.
And yes, they were together through life's hopes and fears.

She's going home.
Annie's going home.
It won't take that long.
Annie's going home.

Late one night before church, she lay sleeping in the bed.
Thoughts and dreams and memories came wondering through her head.
As he stood by her side and held her soft hand, oh, so tight,
He said you don't have to be alone, we're going home tonight.

She's going home to be with her true love.
I know the work on the farm was hard, a lot of sweat and tears.
And yes, they were together through life's hopes and fears.

She's going home.
Annie's going home.
It won't take that long.
Annie's going home.

At church that next morning, the choir began to sing.
Annie entered those pearly gates, and god gave her her wings.
He said you've already earned these for the trials back on earth,
As you enter into heaven, another child will have its birth.

She's going home to be with her true love.
I know the work on the farm was hard, a lot of sweat and tears.
But, now it's milk and honey, and no more wasted tears.

She's back home.
Annie made it home.
It won't take that long.
Annie made it home.
