Prom Nite

OJ Law

All dances for a fretful mind
So how do I dress so that I will look nice?
I swallow my pride and ask someone I like
To go to the prom with my fingers crossed tight

Teenage thoughts are selfish and unkind
But we make an effort, if for just one night
I cut my hair and I buy some flowers
I walk around my room for hours

All for the chance of a kiss when the night ends

She takes me onto the dancefloor
With a twinkle in her eye
She whispers some words into my ear
And I blush towards the sky

In love

At twelve we go to
Someone's house party
A friend of a friend of someone unlikely
And at the party
They're all so naughty
Some curious smoke
And some light
And boys on boys

She pulls my hand
Dragged up the stairs
Pushes me to an empty room
She puts her finger on my lips
And tells me
Hush now, don't you speak my child
Corrupts me gently
Don't you speak my child
Corrupts me gently
Hush now, don't you speak my child
