D G I got To reading this article on sky-divin' and parachutes n It said A D jumpin’ outta air-planes is the thing. [Verse 2] D G Now being raised down on a farm and always ready for adventure, A D I knew that I could find a Way. D G I thought well, Delmer Gill got a parachute and Uncle Harvey's got a plane, A D so I said call the boys together, today's the day, [Verse 3] A D Well I found out too late, what Uncle Harvey called an air-plane E A wuttin' nothin but an engine and a wing. And I could D G feel my a risin’, as Delmer packed the parachute, ‘cause he kept A D telling me I's doing the right thing, [Bridge] D G A D [Verse 4] D G Ron Mcloughlin shook my hand and Jd strapped me in the harness A D and Tildon brought a jug n' and passed it 'round. D G I took one look at that parachute and that whisky and that airplane A D and I turned that bottle up n' I drank it down. [Verse 5] D G Well I was Drunker'n Cooter Jones when they poured me in the plane, A D the engine coughed and Headed for the clouds. D G but I's sober as a judge when Harvey opened up that door A D and I've never known my heart to beat so loud. [Bridge] A D I screamed, Harvey! I Can't Do it! as he kicked me out the door E A and I wrapped my hands around the landing gear. D G and I was holdin' on real good 'til Harvey stepped upon my fingers A D and Virgil heard me scream from way down there. [Verse 6] D G well I Thanked God And Delmer Gill when my parachute finally opened A D and I said, Hell Ain't No Use In Being Afraid!" D G I came crashing through the hen house, scatterin’ chickens, n breakin’ eggs A D and I kissed the ground, I fainted dead away. [Outro] D G Now friends I‘ve fought some battles n I‘ve been shot at once r' twice A D and I dern near been run over by a train, D G but I can’t remember being any more afraid, than the A D day I jumped from Uncle Harvey's plane
