Hades' Lament

Megan Shumway

Everybody waits for spring to have sprung
Everyone but him
For now he's the lonely one
A king without his queen
How saddening the scene
He sighs and hangs his head
And all the while he says

Persephone
Come back to me
I know that there are rules
But I need you here
To wipe away my tears
Persephone
I need you, see?
My love makes me a fool
I can't wait for winter's chill
Every moment without you kills

Through the summer months
His heart aches for fall
As mortals sing above
He's jealous of them all
A king without his queen
How saddening the scene
He sighs and hangs his head
And all the while he says

Persephone
Come back to me
I know that there are rules
But I need you here
To wipe away my tears
Persephone
I need you, see?
My love makes me a fool
I can't wait for winter's chill
Every moment without you kills

I just want to know
Do you miss me
When you're looking at the sky?
I just need to know
Do you think of me
With every sunny day that goes by?
The flowers are in bloom
But my heart starts to wither
With every passing day I say
How I wish I was with her
With her

Persephone
Come back to me
I know that there are rules
But I need you here
To wipe away my tears
Persephone
I need you, see?
My love makes me a fool
I can't wait for winter's chill
Every moment without you kills
