"Break of Day"

Mary Mcbride

Break of Day

In a boarded up bar on the corner of spring
I wanted to smoke, you needed to drink
I don't know what it is that you said
But I woke up with a hole in my chest

Another break of day
Another day breaks down
Another break of day
Now I'm broken in and broken down

Sun quits rising at half past six
a flaming barrel burns pick up sticks
dogs are barking, cars won't start
one-man band plays a sad slow march

is this what it looks like the end of the line
reigns won't steer , lines won't tie
on that side of a cart was a sign that read
down on my luck, please god bless
