All as one Drawn towards the deceiver Confused by the gleam of his empire In their blindness they searched for a shelter A search for life brought death to their future They realized that the hymns of his fire Taught them only of plague and decay To a lesser evil they did aspire Finding nothing but their anxiety And they beheld what they had learned As all their promises decayed Still an echo of the prophesy they heard And in silence it led them astray The lips that gave a passion for life The taste of nectar slowly turned vile Nothing left but a distant cry As the venom blackened their eyes The words they cheered were not of might But empty echoes of the world they despised For they no longer could navigate And thus they held on to their faith As it held the seed of life concealed And of hatred later revealed All as one grew to see the pain too soon Repulsed by life Now struggling through The pain and the ache and the hours consume Their will imprisoned in a timeless tomb
