Something Dangerous

Joshua P. Fields

I woke up, pistol in hand
Holding a man down with it pressed against his head
If you can't tell by the looks of things
I might have found something dangerous living in me
Buried deep down where no one can see

When I came too, I was hit by a train
That southbound Houston line and powdered cocaine
Just like that casino outside of Reno
My lights never turn off and the Sun don't ever shine
It's easy to lose yourself and finding love in your altered self
For a little while

Now I'm holding office in this church pew here in August
Counting off all my transgressions and the sin that I keep close
Holding hands with some strangers thinking this is something dangerous
Believing more than just myself I hope the Good Lord comes on through

Yeah, it clicked about the time those handcuffs did outside of that beer and wine
And I had a hole in my jumpsuit thinking even it's ripped too
You can't win playing Cowboys and Indians

Yeah, but now I'm holding office in this church pew here in August
Counting off all my transgressions and the sin that I keep close
Holding hands with some strangers thinking this is something dangerous
Believing more than just myself I hope the Good Lord comes on through

Yeah, but now I'm holding office in this church pew here in August
Counting off all my transgressions and the sin that I keep close
Holding hands with some strangers thinking this is something dangerous
Believing more than just myself I hope the Good Lord comes on through
Believing more than just myself I hope the Good Lord comes on through
Believing more than just myself I hope the Good Lord comes on through
