Heartland

John Deacon

How long can this go on
How long can we see this wrong and sing the same old song
There's a desert all round' meand
the valley of apathy as far as I can see
I was on the outside Always looking in Now
I stand, I can't turn and face away Here I will stay, on my own, I will pray, all alone, on this stage in the heartland
When the color of your skin decides where you begin then thats what lies within
So if you walk alone while others cast a stonestay on your own
The changing of the new tide something you can't hide
Take your stand this truth will fade away
Here I will stay, on my own, I will pray, all alone, on this stage in the heartland I was on the outside always looking in Now
I stand I can't turn and face away.
