Life's Great Work

Jason Mraz

Was only a few years ago
Since I bought my friend's car and I moved far
A long, long way down
A long, long way from home
Not really knowin' where I was goin'
But just knowing I had to hit the road

Just a poor boy
Just a poor, old wandering soul
Never thought twice about my life or my identity
Selling everything that I own
Cashing in both my loans
And I sacrificed that old college degree
Oh, just to be what I wanted to be

Just to see everything that I always hoped that I'd always see
And there's a great life's work in front me
I'd never heard that it'd ever come so easy
'Cause all I know is that there's only one thing left to believe
I got my work cut out for me
I got my work cut out for me

Never once did I ever feel that I'd ever be alone
'Cause I always had the best of my friends
And the rest of my family out there with me everywhere that I go
And it's behind closed eyes I see them smiling
And they're laughing and clapping and, oh, they're having a ball
With their little boy lost who is trying

And he'll try it all
But there's a great deal of life's work in front of me
I never thought that I'd ever be, oh, so easy
'Cause I never heard that it's only one else
And it's only one thing to believe
I got my work cut out for me
I got my work cut out for me

And some day the words don't work
And I forget all about what I've spoken for
But God knows it doesn't hurt
I gotta keep on, keep on keepin on
Because I'll make more

And there's a great life's work in front of me
I never dreamed, and I never hoped it'd ever be easy
But I left home with the only thing that my daddy taught me, boy
Said: Son, you gotta believe it

I got my work cut out for me
I got my work cut out for me
I got my work cut out for me
I got my work cut out for me
