The Hospital

Jason e Anderson

We fell asleep
In the hospital parking lot
And woke up
When the overheads banged on
Like a UFO
Like a flashlight
Pressed to your palm
That marmalade glow
Through your fingers
That burnt onto jacko-lantern glare
And rain drops on our windshield
Making shadows on the dashboard
The most ghostly running shadows
Like we could trap them
And you say you love the traffic signals trail
Those gorgeous smears of emerald on wet tar
And I say how I love how a blizzard
Makes everything silent
From my upstairs window
Cars hover by quiet like boats
And in this way we feel so hushed
And nestled in so timeless
Like a shoe box diarama
Like a snow globe
Oh you know you know
You know my open chest
Of crossword puzzles of autumn
Of Canada's home
So if I am true and
If I am absent
I beg you pause
Know the northern lights sparkle
And push my scampering way
Through provincial lines
Across time zones to pine needle carpet

Oh my heart will so? return
My heart will burst
Oh my heart will so return
My heart will burst
Yeah my heart will so return
My heart will burst
So just wait

Wait for the one you love, it's me
Oh I know I know I know I know it's you
Wait for the one you love, it's me
Oh I know I know I know I know it's you
Wait for the one you love, it's me
Oh I know I know I know I know it's you
Wait for the one you love, it's me
Oh I know I know I know I know it's you
It's you
