White Moon

James Wolpert

Big white moon
Looking down on the valley
Baby's higher than her ivory tower
Skipping stones barefoot in the creek water

But her fears and her vices
Are killing her young

Big white moon
Making shapes move in the graveyard
I'm sleepwalking for this big smiling diner rat
she doesn't even like me until 3 in the morning

And she cuts her life
Together on film

Town's a blurry switchboard at midnight
Country winds and drives her nowhere
It's black as pitch and blue as sapphire
But that white moon is bright and full

Big white moon, double feature
Making shapes move in the graveyard
Layman's daughter, porcelain figure
She won't die alone, because she won't die at all

When I drive her home
I'm bitten by the beast

Town's a blurry switchboard at midnight
Country winds and drives her nowhere
It's black as pitch and blue as sapphire
But that white moon is bright and full
Think i'll take the long way home
