Ghost Story

Jackie Cohen

We rubbed our elbows raw
We placed phone calls
I'm no genius, but I know when Rome falls

Said: Strike while it’s hot
Said: I know I'm gettin’ burned here
And if you never return, dear, well, at least there’s alcohol

On the bench by the bondage bar
He sips his flask
And keeps an eye for cop cars
With his head thrown back
He tells me I'm the best
Ghost story he’s ever had

Those little polish shops
The families and their dogs
There’s so much goin’ right here
Why’s it feel so wrong?
He says: You never stop to consider you own nature
He tells me I'm a teacher
I tell him he’s a fraud

On the bench by the bondage bar
He sips his flask
And keeps an eye for cop cars
With his head thrown back
He tells me I'm the best
Ghost story he’s ever had

We rubbed our elbows raw
We placed phone calls
I'm no genius
