Turn Back The Tide

Ian Parry

One cold and misty day
There came a sound so the people say
Wild birds were singing, warning them all
Rich soil and heavy, began to slide like a slow hill train
Down by the school yard, where the children once played

Turn back the tide...wish I could turn back the tide

Sweet infants played and sang
A sudden cry as alarm bells rang
School walls came tumbling
Down, deep within

A single trace was never found, lonely hearts buried underground
Take heed when nature, is calling to you
Turn back the tide...wish i could turn back the tide

They will never be forgotten, precious lives are lost in vein
See how they weep tonight, maybe they'll sleep tonight
If we could turn back the tide

Our father up above, spare a thought for the ones we love
Don't let this happen, ever again

Turn back the tide, torn by the misery
Hurtin' inside, now set the memory free (repeat)

Turn back the tide...wish i could turn back the tide (repeat)
They will never be forgotten, precious lives are lost in vein
