Standard Tuning: EADGBe
Capo: 2nd Fret

The A* and the A chord are slightly

Variate a bit with the D-chord every

Intro:

A* A E D x2

Verse:

  A* A E D
A rife sits behind her sleeping ear

A* A E D
Echo on the cold wall, closest neighbour couldn’t hear

   A* E E D
We dug a hole in the fall____

              A* E D (single strums)
So now it’s a frozen burial

          E D | | ( A* A E D ) x2
And she’s gone__, just before the new year

         A* A E D
Well i’m gonna build a cross for her spot between the trees

    A* A E D
And stick it in firm so it won’t sway in the breeze

A* E D (single strums)
You and i have trouble making up our half-assed minds

               A* E | D
But she’d seen sixteen years__ of our kind

E D | | ( A* A E D ) x2
What’s it like___|, when your memories start to freeze

E A* D A
Oh__and i wonder__

        E A* D A*
What it is about dogs and thunder__

E A* E A* D
What they hear, coming over the field___

E A* D A*
Back hall shelter, warm nights in summer

E A* D A*
Shaking the ground that you lie under

       E A*
Well i know you’re not here

       E A* D ( A* A E D ) x2
But at least you don’t feel it anymore__

      D
And i came to see you, on the day that it happened

              A* E D (single strums)
You said “Hey sorry Sar, but i gotta go”

          D
And i was trying to read, some sort of reaction

A* E D (single strums)
Something you just can’t show

     D
So i guess it’s time i go

 A* A E D
Across the snowy barnyard, just pas the driving shed

A* A E D
Shadow of me in the moon, well i was in the movie in my head

     A* E D
This pile of dirt on the ground

     A* E D (single strums)
Will sink when nobody’s around

E D | | A* A E D
Winter covers everything, but everything’s not dead

E A* D A
Oh__and i wonder__

        E A* D A*
What it is about dogs and thunder__

E A* E A* D
What they hear, coming over the field___

E A* D A*
Back hall shelter, warm nights in summer

E A* D A*
Shaking the ground that you lie under

E A* (play this last part 3 times)
Well i know you’re not here

       E A* D
But at least you don’t feel it anymore__
