Firehorse

She's a River

Firehorse

She's as careless as a river
Slowly carving through the ground
Only rocks and roots to guide her
Til she beats against the dam

Don't fight
Don't fight what you're made for

They smell her scent of water
So the swimmers come to bathe
Wash themselves of all their secrets
Leave their dreams among her river waves

Don't fight
Don't fight what you're made for
Don't fight
Don't fight you are what you are

They slog the muddy banks
When they've had all that they need
Dreams flickering behind them
Secrets sinking to the reeds
She dares to take a hostage
Any way that she knows how
Drowns them in the darkness
Dazes them with vertigo

Don't fight
Don't fight what you're made for
Don't fight
Don't fight you are what you are

She waits for drought to come
All the bodies be exposed
Til then she's just a vessel
For others' fears and loves

Don't fight
Don't fight
Don't fight what you're made for

She's a river
She's a river
She's a river
She's a river
