This Side Of Town

Daisy Mallory

The walls are grey and the front door creeks
I don't get a lot of sun but the rent is cheap
It's like living in a cave with a kitchen sink
That drips all night

Mama don't let me live here in this place
Daddy bought me a gun just in case
Around here the freaks come out and the sirens race
When the sun goes down
Your memory can't reach this side of town

There's bars on windows, cars up on blocks
A couple houses going up, an old vacant lot
I guess i'm the only one who needs a renaissance
And a brand new start

Mama don't let me live here in this place
Daddy bought me a gun just in case
Around here the freaks come out and the sirens race
When the sun goes down
But just ain't nothing around here gonna take my mind
Back to that foreman dirt road job
Down till late, we would spin all night
When the videos drop
I won't feel your touch or taste your kiss
Run to any, anyone of your stupid friends
'cause where i live, you gotta be tough

Mama don't let me live here in this place
Noooo!
Daddy bought me a gun just in case
Around here the freaks come out and the sirens race
When the sun goes down
Your memory can't reach this side of town
