Beneath This Sacred Roof

Beneath this sacred roof we meet
To sing to thee and pray,
Our hearts attuned to holy thoughts
We worship here today.
The rich outpooring of thy love
In spreading waves bestow,
That we may early learn thy word,
And serve thee here below.

Remove from us all worldly care,
And fix our thoughts on thee;
Deliver us from sinful hearts,
From evil set us free.
Our feeble lamps renew with oil
And charge our souls anew
With quick'ning graces from thy throne,
With light divinely true.
