Carptree

Calm Sea Of Their Pupils

Carptree

Very plain
And nondescript
Still it stands out
In a crowd

A wrinkled face
Has many lines
Which holds the map
Of someone's life

Somewhere on a trip somewhere
Or just about
Anywhere
Often as you least expect it
There's the face
That's on its own

Like an island in a sea of people
A place of stillness in a crowd
Such a face of calm expression
There's no tension in that place

They say
I
In contemplation here
I reached across the universe
To find that god is here
If you
Do the same as i did
You'll find that life
Is very near
You'll find that it is here
Right here

Your eyes are drawn towards it
You try hard to look away
Like a boat that's struggling
In the wrecking waves
Who tries to stay
Keeping away
From the eye
The eye of the storm

There's the total absence of fear
That really makes you scared
In those mirrors
Both reflecting
Your own desperation

They say
I
In contemplation here
I reached across the universe
To find that god is here
If you
Do the same as i did
You'll find that life
Is very near
You'll find that it is here
Right here
They say
I
In contemplation here
I reached across the universe
To find that god is here
If you
Do the same as i did
You'll find that life
Is very near
You'll find that god is here
Right here

They say

You have never met it's glance
For the fear of what you'd find
Maybe you'll be set adrift
In those pupils
Maybe you'll be set adrift
In the calm sea of their pupils

Right here
Right here
Right here
Right here
