Rock, Paper, Scissors

April McLean

I'm steering clear
of the topics that might make you lose your cool
And I talk, but you don't hear, so I just smile and look at you
And think of all the things that we could be
That we should be

I don't expect you to get it at all
I might as well be talking to the wall
It could drive me nuts if I let it
But I guess it's best to forget it

Hey, that's okay
Yeah, I guess you're right for the seven hundredth time
And it's fine, I'll just listen to you and slowly lose my mind
And pine for all the things that we could be
But we can't be

I don't expect you to get it at all
I might as well be talking to the wall
You and your condescending tone
Please just leave me the hell alone
I don't expect you to get it
I'd fight back but I would regret it

I don't know why I should care
I'm always looking for something in you that's not there
And it doesn't seem fair but it's all that we've got
Because the truth is you can't be someone that you're not

And to think of all the things that we could be
That we should be

I don't expect you to get it at all
Who's right, who's wrong, well it's too close to call
Rock, paper, scissors, let's call it a draw

I don't expect you to get it
I guess it's best to forget it
