All Its Grace

Requiem For A Countenance

All Its Grace

What is the weight of not just a something in our lives?
How much fits into its requiem?
How much was lost?
How much faded away with it?
But how much is gained?
How much is gained?

This requiem
To praise what's real
Indelibility was built
Before we collided
For numbing our pain
For knowing truth

I was only sleeping
Inside what you couldn't see
With this need to remember
All the marks and scars will stay
I can't remember to forget
I must remember to forgive

It could have been
The death of someone
It could have been
The loss of being whole

It could have faded
Into oblivion
It could have faded
Then just have gone away

We're mostly
The sum of words
And chapters in
Our life's book
Which we remember

Starless nights of peaceful rest
At dawn of winter's soothing grace
Carried my head through meadows
Whispered words of deliverance
Maybe I've asked for too much
Maybe I've never heard a word

It could have been

It could have faded

We're mostly
